3 Minute Record

"We learned more from a three minute record baby than we ever learned in school..." -from No Surrender by Bruce Springsteen

Episode 13 - Jim Harper

Episode 13 has arrived and it features St. Louis multi-media artist and entrepreneur, Jim Harper. Jim has drummed for numerous St. Louis based bands, is a partner in Boxing Clever marketing agency, and also a partner in Boxing Clever Records. Boxing Clever creates some of the most unique marketing art around and the label produces the highest quality packaging and design for their releases. We sat down with Jim at The Stagger Inn…Again in Edwardsville, IL for a long chat about all things music, design and business. We touched on subjects like early drum lessons, Margaritas with Darin Gray and Jeff Tweedy, his early band Snake Ranch, touring vs. design career, van breakdowns & tour woes, Deep Elm records, his own Boxing Clever Records, the list of great bands they are working with, their new proprietary digital music delivery innovation, vinyl packaging, Boxing Clever’s first foray into the book world and our mutual love of 3 Floyds Beer. Thanks again for listening, enjoy!
