On their way to SXSW, Pearls Mahone and the One Eyed Jacks motor into the Firebird [Preview]
When SXSW rolls around each year, St. Louis is perfectly located in the middle of the country to attract a slew of bands as they travel back and forth from the conference.
Tonight, Chicago based rockabilly band Pearl Mahone and the One Eyed Jacks make the first stop on their journey to Austin. In December, the band was asked to play the Hillgrass Bluebilly’s 5th Annual South by Southwest Music Festival Showcase in Austin on March 16th and 17th. First stop, however, is the Gateway City where they will engage the parking brake for a few hours while they play a show at the Firebird.
Tickets are $10 the day of the show. Doors open at 9 p.m.
On songs like "Greasy Love," "3 Rounds Left" and "Jose 1800," Mahone's vocals soar over the '50s rocking beat as her revved Betty Page look draws you in. You can be sure that the PBR will be flowing as the country and rockabilly music are thumping in the speakers and the venue is turned into a honky-tonk for the evening. By the end of the evening if the shots aren't being poured fast and furious then you're not having fun.
If you're unfamiliar with the band's music be sure to check out 14 full-length songs of their original music at their Soundcloud page and then head on downtown to show them some good-natured St. Louis hospitality.
