My 2010 Wrap Up: Shows

Here's a quick list of the shows from the past year that I went to and was blown away at. Think I'm just going to name a venue and then list the artists that I saw there. Sorry, trying to remember the dates for all of these would just hurt my brain too much. You're on the internet, look it up if you really want to know! :) Mercy Lounge (Nashville, TN) - Lucero w/Glossary, Old 97's w/Hayes Carll

Minglewood Hall (Memphis, TN) - Lucero w/Cory Branan

The Pageant (St. Louis, MO) - Patty Griffin, The Flaming Lips, Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven (2009?)

Old Rock House (St. Louis, MO) - Hum, Justin Townes Earle, Jay Farrar

Riverport (St. Louis, MO) - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers w/Drive-By Truckers

Firebird - Ultimate Fakebook, Drag The River w/Cory Branan

Pop's (Sauget, IL) - Gaslight Anthem w/Chamberlain and Tim Barry

Forest Park (St. Louis, MO) - LouFest

Off Broadway (St. Louis, MO) - Lucero, Tim Barry, Cory Branan, Two Cow Garage, The Great Crusades w/The Saps and Dana Anderson

St. Louis area bands that I saw at various locations - The Scapegoats, Belleview, Kentucky Knife Fight, Breakmouth Annie, The Livers, The Blind Eyes, The Monads, Fattback, Doc Ellis Band, Trophy Mules, Dibiase, Franklin Felix, Blood Pony, Old Lights, John Henry and the Engine, Highway Companion, Goodtime Engineers... I know I'm forgetting some other important ones, sorry!

I know there has got to be other shows I'm forgetting, but all these really stuck out. It was a good year for live music here around the Lou. There are a lot of great original bands kicking out very good jams around the Lou, be sure to get out there and support your local musicians. LouFest had a great showing for a first year event and had a really good, interesting lineup. Here's to hoping they build on that and we can finally have a big festival type event right here in our neck of the woods. Off Broadway continues to be the best venue in town, hands down. The staff there absolutely rocks, the sound is always great, and they're continually trying to improve the place. Kudos to Steve and his staff! 2011 is already shaping up to be another good year of shows, get out there and feel the joy of live music.
